Social Media Policy

As a Clinical Psychologist registered with AHPRA, certain standards and obligations apply in regards to internet interaction and use. This information outlines Life Balance Clinical Psychology’s social media policy which provides detail to aid understanding of how we conduct ourselves online and how you may expect Life Balance Clinical Psychology to respond to any interactions with you on the internet, especially if you are a current or former client of Life Balance Clinical Psychology or its psychologists. Please read the following carefully.

Friending and Following

Life Balance Clinical Psychology and it’s psychologists do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any personal social network platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other similar platforms. We believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise a client’s confidentiality and privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions about this, please discuss this further with your clinician.

Life Balance Clinical Psychology has a public instagram account: ‘lifebalanceclinicalpsychology’, a public Facebook account, and a public LinkedIn account. Please know we harbour no expectations for former or current clients to engage with our public accounts. We respect your discretion in deciding whether or not you wish to follow our public accounts.

Interacting

If you are a client and would like to contact Life Balance Clinical Psychology in between sessions, please do so via email, which can be found in the contact tab of this website. Please do not use social networking sites to contact Life Balance Clinical Psychology, as these sites are not secure and the messages are not monitored on a regular basis. For this reason, it is unlikely the message would be read in a timely fashion. Also, engaging with Life Balance Clinical Psychology in this way could compromise your confidentiality. It may also create the possibility that these exchanges become a part of your legal medical record and will need to be documented and archived in your client file. Communication in any form through social media platforms does not constitute a therapeutic relationship of any kind. If you are a potential new client, existing client or past client wanting an appointment, please contact us through our website or via email.

Online Searches

Life Balance Clinical Psychology and its psychologists will refrain from conducting online searches, on search engines, social media, or similar platforms, to seek information about clients, whether past, current or potential. Such actions could infringe upon a client’s privacy and may blur the professional boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.

Business Review Sites

The Australian Psychological Association’s Ethics Codes states that it is unethical for psychologists to solicit testimonials from therapy clients. If you happen upon listings of Life Balance Clinical Psychology’s practice or website on review sites, please be aware that these listings do not constitute a request for testimonials, ratings or endorsements from clients. While you have the freedom to express your thoughts on these platforms, please understand that, owing to client confidentiality, Life Balance Clinical Psychology will not be in a position to respond to reviews, whether positive or negative, on any of these websites. We strongly encourage you to prioritise your own privacy, just as we uphold our commitment to safeguarding the confidentiality of your information.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Life Balance Clinical Psychology Social Media Policy. If you have questions or concerns about any of these terms or regarding our potential interactions on the Internet, please bring them to the attention of your clinician for further discussion.
